New data from eMarketer shows that the average time spent on Facebook by the average adult is 21 minutes per day.

This may seem a bit low to some, so it’s important to realize that this average is for taken from across the entire adult population in the US. And as eMarketer points out, “only 52.8% of US adults—or 129.5 million people—will log in to or access Facebook at least once per month in 2014.”

The average time spent for adult Facebook users is a bit higher, at 39 minutes. This number accounts for 38.1% of the time spent daily on social networks.

This report also shows that digital advertising on Facebook trends ahead of the market. With 6.0 % digital time spent on Facebook, the social giant is still seeing 9.7% of digital ad spending come to it. There are likely a few reasons for this, including the action that Facebook has taken to “convince advertisers its audience, customer data and targeting capabilities are the best advertisers can buy, which has contributed to its trending ahead of the market.”
