We’ve been talking about the value of organic traffic for years. Audience members seem to trust it more and we’re seeing its value in terms of website referral traffic as well. A new article from eMarketer highlights data from BrightEdge, which looked at organic search traffic between June and July of this year.

According to eMarketer, organic search drove 51% of website traffic referrals during this time. “email and referred search ranked second, with 34% of referrals, paid search third (10%), and social media last (5%).”

This overall data included tracking five different industries: business services, media & entertainment, technology/internet, hospitality, and retail. Out of these industries, business services experienced the most referral traffic from organic search at 73%. Retail experienced the lowest amount of referral traffic from organic search at 42%. Even though retail experienced the lowest amount of referrals from organic search, it was still more effective than display, email and referral, social media, and paid media.

Organic search traffic is the best kind of traffic to get to put you potential customers in front of your offers because it is very targeted. The people searching for a camera to buy or an e-book on building a shed, are a very good fit for your business if you are offering those things.
In my blog post: http://fundingmytravel.com/recover-from-mlm-meltdown/ I discuss how the process works,(specifically for mlm recruiters, but it applies to any market). If you learn how to drive traffic, your marketing skills will work anywhere. It’s like learning to fish.
