2012 Rocket Award Winners Announced

Who’s the biggest audience development success of the year in the Mequoda family – and how did they do it?

Of more than 60 Mequoda systems, one publishing website has achieved higher traffic growth than all the others during a 12-month period ending June 2012. For the fourth time, Mequoda has honored that digital publisher with its Rocket Award at the Audience Development Summit 2012.

This year we had a tie for first place:

Vida y Salud with a 105.75 percent change

Mr. Food (Prime Publishing) with a 105.51 percent change

Most impressive to note is that both our winners have rocketed to the top of the list from a starting point that was already quite large. Normally we only see such astounding growth in sites that are just beginning to build their audience.

And now I’d like to honor all our nominees, because the average growth among all 10 nominees was a whopping 71%. If that doesn’t deserve a round of applause, I don’t know what does.

The significance behind the Rocket Award

Our Gold Member organizations realize the significance associated with the Rocket Award. For community members unfamiliar with the inner workings of Mequoda consulting services, the Rocket Award is proof of successful actions taken by our Gold Member clients. Rocket Award winners follow the best practices for audience development, Internet marketing, and digital publishing we consistently share.

More about the Rocket Award winners and nominees

Prime Publishing created a joint venture in 2010 with Mr. Food, a 30-year old nationally syndicated TV show. CBS-TV manages the syndication, and Prime Publishing manages the digital properties including MrFood.com, email newsletters and social media.

Stuart Hochwert, CEO of Prime Publishing, is happy to bring the Rocket Award home as it shows the understanding of digital publishing his organization has.

This is the second time Vida y Salud has won a Rocket Award. Carl Kravetz, Publisher of Vida y Salud, and Dra. Aliza, Managing Editor, created the Spanish language health website as a labor of love – helping Spanish-speaking people understand their health issues and communicate with doctors effectively.

Here are the remaining nominees from the Mequoda:

10. Ceramic Arts Daily

9. FaveCrafts (Prime Publishing)

8. Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School

7. Blackbelt Magazine (Active Interest Media)

6. America’s Horse Daily

5. Farm Progress Daily

4. Vibrant Nation

3. Biblical Archaeology Society

Wouldn’t you like to know the kind of contact frequency does this publisher have with its audience? How did they develop their alluring content? How did they drive traffic? How did this one big success story manage to grow faster than all other Mequoda-guided websites?
