Vida y Salud Launches the Latina Health Letter

Two-time Mequoda Rocket Award winner and Hall of Fame members launch a new health site

Of the more than 100 websites I’ve worked on during the last 20 years, none has given me more personal satisfaction than Vida y Salud.

Each year, the site helps millions of Spanish-speaking visitors understand how to improve their health and the health of their families. The site’s global reach, easy-to-understand content and highly engaged audience have made it the number one Spanish language health website in the world.

Vida founders Carl Kravetz and Aliza Lifshitz, M.D., whom the Latino community knows as la Doctora Aliza or Dra. Aliza, are both Certified Mequoda Masters and Members of the Mequoda Hall of Fame for both their accomplishments and continued support of other Mequoda operators.

In its four years of operation, Vida y Salud has won the Mequoda Community’s Rocket Award not once, but twice.  The Mequoda Rocket Award goes to the Mequoda Benchmark Website with the highest rate of year over year growth, so its hard to imagine how the same website can win twice in four years.  The answer, of course, is consistent and rapid traffic growth year after year.

So what to do for an encore?

How about launching a companion website and email newsletter in English?

In fact, they launched the Latina Health Letter last Wednesday.

“Our mission is to engage Hispanics in their own health care and to enhance their relationships with their health care providers by giving them the information, tools and skills they need to communicate better with their doctors, to ensure better compliance with physician instructions and to achieve better and more cost-effective health outcomes,” said Dra. Aliza.

The new Latina Health Letter caters heath advice specifically to Latinas, and in English. “Latina Health Letter expands our mission beyond the Spanish-speaking consumers we already serve, to include those who prefer to receive information in English.”

Topics on the site include Women’s Health; Diet, Nutrition and Exercise; Women’s Sexual Health; Pregnancy; and Diabetes. They also send a free weekly newsletter.

“Unlike other Hispanic media companies that dabble in health, we do not do entertainment, sports or news. We are 100% dedicated to health and wellness,” said Carl Kravetz, CEO of Vida y Salud Media Group. “We are a mission-driven company dedicated to public health and patient engagement.  And we are fortunate to be led by Dra. Lifshitz. No one is more trusted on health by the Latino community than la Doctora Aliza. With her as editor-in-chief and with science-based content delivered in the warm, caring style she is known for, Latina Health Letter will be an invaluable resource to U.S. Latino families.”

Latina Health Letter is now the most up-to-date live website using our Haven Nexus CMS featuring our new fully responsive website framework which senses and adjusts every page to the users’ operating system and screen-size.
