This free report from Mequoda Group discusses marketing tips you can use to boost ROI by doing business on Twitter
(Nationwide)—Online publishers need to be careful when using Twitter as a marketing device. Becoming too promotional and not being social enough can become an issue.
Branding on Twitter is an important part in using the social media platform. We originally branded our Twitter feed 100% as Mequoda Daily. Doing this does not help in growing an audience since Mequoda Daily sounds like a publication and many members of Twitter may automatically assume that we were only going to promote ourselves.
Instead, we changed our avatar to “M” and our user name to “Mequoda”. We kept our brand fully intact, but stripped away some unnecessary aspects of it. This vagueness made people curious, especially when they were constantly receiving valuable information pertaining to the online publishing and content marketing worlds.
Some large publishers do not have to do this because it’s likely they have brand recognition and a large following already. However, smaller niche publishers will benefit from letting their content do the talking from the start. It’s a great way to make a first impression without being judged by your user name and avatar picture.
