New Features Come to HootSuite

AutoSchedule allows HootSuite users to send social media messages automatically

Many of our community members know that HootSuite is a social media tool we like to use. Its functionality allows for social media messages to be scheduled in advance, so publishers can still reach their audiences when they’re not actively working. The customizable columns allow users to track keywords, hashtags, direct messages, instances where your brand is mentioned, and the tweets you send.

One new feature that I’ve noticed on HootSuite is the AutoSchedule tool. Apparently this tool is was requested by many users, so HootSuite took the necessary steps in making the tool a reality. Some thoughts came to mind after using the AutoSchedule tool for a few days.

First, I’m curious how AutoSchedule actually works. Sifting through information on the HootSuite website didn’t quite answer my question. Content on how to use the AutoSchedule tool was present, but not specifics on its actual abilities. How exactly does AutoSchedule determine the optimal times to post? Is it based on times when the social networks are most active? Or does it relate to the keywords and hashtags being used in the tweets? Hopefully these questions can be answered.

The next thought was about the actual impact from AutoSchedule. Will this tool help me reach more of my target audience easier? I’m currently in the process of using AutoSchedule, and will do so for a significant amount of social media posts. I’ll take a look at the data associated with AutoSchedule and compare it to tweets I schedule myself. It will be interesting to see if there is a difference in engagement between the two.

HootSuite wants to keep social media social, even as more automation functionality is added. It will be interesting to see how AutoSchedule impacts engagement levels going forward.

Have you tried HootSuite’s new AutoSchedule function? Please share your thoughts on it with the community.
