New Survey Shines Light on Twitter Users

Twitter has become a subject worthy of research

A new survey from the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project examines Twitter users.

This exclusive study is the first of its kind from the organization and it captures some interesting data about Twitter usage.

For instance, the study found that 8% of all Internet users are using Twitter.

Other pertinent information includes:

-Women use Twitter more than men (10% to 7% respectively).

-The 18-29 age group uses it more than any other age. The 30-49 age group follows it.

-College-educated individuals are slightly more likely than average to use the service.

-Urbanites are over twice as likely to use Twitter over rural dwellers.

Twitter will continue to be a point of interaction as more people join the social network. Those already using the platform have participated more from 2009 to 2010 as the number of people being followed has increased.

Internet marketers and online publishers may utilize some of these numbers to better reach their audience.
