Digital Magazines – Defining and Dictating Requirements

Characteristics of the perfect digital magazine will be discussed at the Mequoda Summit West 2011

In the Mequoda Daily yesterday, I shared seven facts about digital magazine publishing from the MPA Digital: E-Reading event in New York City.

The biggest piece of advice from the conference that I took away came from James McQuivey of Forrester Research. He, similarly to what I’ve been saying for months, believes that publishers need to develop subscription websites that can serve as a direct-to-consumer alternative to buying through Apple. Doing so will keep pressure on Apple and stop them from gaining too much power over your content.

Since the future of magazine publishing is going digital, and we as publishers have the tools to succeed in this environment, I will be leading a panel-session called Creating the Perfect Digital Magazine at the Mequoda Summit West 2011.

During this 90-minute program, I will be sharing the nine characteristics of a digital magazine that are defined by user experience. These in turn dictate future requirements for successful digital magazine publishing.

Learn the secrets behind today's most rapidly growing niche publishers. Download a FREE copy of How to Develop a Multiplatform Magazine Business Plan, and discover how large your magazine business could become and how much of an investment will be required to build your business to maturity.

This interactive session will not only include my insight, but will also feature commentary from other publishers who have already, or are currently building their version of a perfect digital magazine.

The session will conclude by reviewing the results of our crowd-sourced Creating the Perfect Digital Magazine Survey. If you haven’t shared your thoughts through the survey yet, please do so now.

Going forward, tablets will only gain popularity with users who want a rich content experience on the go. They will expect to have their favorite magazines available everywhere. Do not disappoint them by not being adequately prepared. Your content can thrive and prosper as a digital magazine if you are knowledgeable of the characteristics users desire.

It’s time to truly step into the digital age by creating the perfect digital magazine for your audience. Register now to assure yourself a seat at the Mequoda Summit West 2011 so you can participate in this incomparable session on creating the perfect digital magazine.
