The New York Times is at it again, this time hiring a new editor in order to evolve with the changing times.

Talking New Media has the story. “The New York Times announced today that Kinsey Wilson will become Editor for Innovation and Strategy, a new role that reports to the executive editor. Mr. Wilson, who has built digital strategies for three major news organizations, most recently served as executive vice president and chief content officer for NPR, a position he held since 2008.”

Clearly, Wilson has the experience to help in this position. A big part of this role will involve creating new digital products and expanding the publication’s mobile strategy. His focus on mobile apps will include NYT Now and NYT Cooking.

While at NPR, Wilson helped develop the strategy of the NPR One mobile app, which was seen as a pioneering of personalized digital listening experiences.
