If you plan to publish online video, and you plan to make revenue from them, you’re not only looking for a video host, you’re looking for one that will allow you to sell ads, leverage video ad networks, or at the very least, add clickable calls to action to your videos.
Any publisher can include video in their pre-roll or post-roll—if it’s provided—during the editing process. But without an ad-capable online video advertising solution, you won’t be able to make them actionable.

Bright cove no longer exists, is there any other platform? Especially one that doe NOT cost anything to use, like YouTube?
Brightcove is alive and well – https://www.brightcove.com/en/
YouTube is best free platform, there’s no good reason to use another one when they offer analytics and other perks for free. Vimeo has a free option, but we still prefer YouTube.
Stay away from Longtail! I’ve been using these guys for a while now. Recently I upgraded my phone and didn’t have my adblocker turned on. I visited my website and all of a sudden I’m seeing porn! I refresh a few times and don’t see it again. But all of a sudden the Google Play store opens up automatically to a game page! WTF?!?!
I contacted the developer about this issue, and they setup a test ad for me because they couldn’t recreate it on my site and blamed another ad provider. Well, after about a day of refreshing on THEIR site I got both of the annoying and inappropriate popups!
They said that there is nothing that they could do about it and suggested I should look for another adsolution!
Stay away!
Hi Cesar and Pankaj,
You could try out Wistia (http://www.wistia.com), which is a private video host (with great analytics) who will let you put your own ads on top of your videos.
Hope that helps!
Cesar,
Did you got any solution for your problem?
Even i am looking for the same.
Let me know if you get any.

Is there any service that will allow me to make my own list of overlay ads instead of just letting them include their network’s publishers ads? I don’t want ppl to watch my live feeds about “A” and see ads about “X, Y or Z”. I sell my own space to advertisers on my site and don’t use the ads networks. It’s a pain on the $%* (make calls, make monthly invoices, etc.) but it works.
Thanks 😉
