How to Appease Mobile Device Users

The holiday season is coming and mobile devices will play a big part

The specific uses of smartphones have evolved since they first hit the market. Text messaging and web browsing has turned into a mobile shopping channel.

Of course, texting and browsing are still important aspects of smartphones as those features also allow consumers to compare prices of products, find local stores and receive coupons from advertisers.

A recent survey from Sterling Commerce found the most important use of mobile phones for shopping. According to the survey, 28% will use their smartphone during the holiday season to check product availability and verify that the product is in stock.

Another 25% said they would be using their mobile phones to receive promotional specials from retailers.

What does this mean for retailers? Perhaps they should be preparing to offer promotions to mobile devices in the coming weeks while they work on being able to provide accuracy in their online product availability. These are what the majority of smartphone users will be looking for while shopping this holiday season.
