This is an online matchmaking service with unlimited profit potential. It enables you to advertise your rental home to more than one million annual visitors to its website for a mere $148, and takes no responsibility for the accuracy of the information.

At Vacation Rentals by Owner (vrbo.com) you are responsible for conducting your own investigation regarding all claims made by prospective renters or vacation property owners and agents, and you assume all liability for the use of the information.

The site currently displays ads for 26,600 vacation rentals worldwide, including all the United States, more than 80 countries, plus yachts and cruises.

The owners of vrbo.com simply collect fees from the advertisers and post the ads on their website. Members pay no additional commissions or referral fees.

Additionally, the site earns affiliate commissions by referring site visitors to www.InsureMyTrip.com.

The fee for VRBO membership

Membership in VRBO, which includes a one-year listing for one rental, starts at US $148, or about 40 cents per day. If you have more than 10 properties to advertise, they offer a 25 percent discount.

A listing includes up to three photos of your rental property, plus a link to your website. Your listing is included in the www.vrbo.com location index, and they provide you with a counter that shows the number of visitors to your listing.

The site owners create and publish your listing page for you — no need for you to know any programming or HTML. Your listing is generally posted within two days of your joining, with the photos added later if you send them via snail mail.

VRBO members (rental property listers) set their own rental prices. Renters contact VRBO members directly via e-mail or phone. There is no fee to surf the site in search of the ideal vacation rental.
