Great WP Plugin for Online Editors: Editorial Calendar

Picture 107Simplify your editorial management strategy when you add a visual editorial calendar to your WordPress blog

There’s this new(ish) WordPress plugin out in the wilderness that has been getting some buzz lately and it’s called Editorial Calendar by Zack Grossbart.

The big bloggers like Brian Clark of Copyblogger.com and Chris Brogan of ChrisBrogan.com (amongst other sites) are singing its high praises, so we thought it deserved a shout-out.

Depending on how upgraded your WordPress version is (it requires 2.8.5 or higher and is tested up to 3.0.1), this is becoming a favorite among bloggers who schedule their posts. The drag and drop feature of this plugin makes moving posts around amazingly simply.

Currently in WordPress, if you want to see scheduled blog posts, all you have is a list of upcoming posts. WordPress doesn’t make it terribly easy to manage editorial campaigns, and the more posts you have per day, the more confusing it can get for editors to arrange and schedule new posts. That’s where this plugin excels.

According to the description on WordPress.org, “The editorial calendar gives you an overview of your blog and when each post will be published. You can drag and drop to move posts, edit posts right in the calendar, and manage your entire blog.”

Chris Brogan, the unofficial social media god, says that “this is probably the easiest way to schedule your blog posts” and wrote all about using the tools and setting your self up ahead of time.

When you think of all the things you have to do as an online editor, SEO, social media, research, online bookmarking amongst other things, this plugin can at least remove some of the hassle from organizing your blogs and the blogs of others on your team.
