It’s nice to see publishers do fun things on social media. Better Homes & Gardens has been using photo contests on Instagram. The publication found that it gets the best engagement from Instagram followers when it runs these photo contests.

Chantal Tode from Mobile Marketer writes, “Meredith Corp.’s Better Homes and Gardens is seeing strong engagement from photo contests on Instagram, with its first two efforts resulting in more than 10,000 entries.” Better Homes & Garden asked contestants to post photos of their favorite color palette, and to use the hashtag #BHGColor.”

Tode adds, ” the contest is part of a marketing campaign around the introduction of the Better Homes and Gardens Color Palette of the Year, a collection of seven colors meant to reflect current trends, which can be found in the April issue of the magazine.”
