Publishers have taken to Twitter because the social platform is a micropublishing site — something directly aligned with the activities of digital publishers.

Twitter has been a valuable tool in building audiences, and for targeting keyword phrases for better Google rank, but now there’s new options with Twitter.

Twitter is testing a “Buy” button which allows users to make purchases directly in tweets, reports CNET. It is starting with merchants like Burberry, and musical artists Demi Lovato and Pharrell.

Here’s a look at how the service works, from CNET, once a Twitter users clicks on the “Buy” button.

“After hitting “Buy,” a user will see the product’s details and a prompt for shipping and payment information. Once that’s complete and submitted, Twitter will hand the order over to the merchant. The company said the information is encrypted — merchants won’t see the actual credit card information without permission — and stored after the first purchase, but users can also remove the information from their accounts.”
