We always keep an eye on the major publishers to see how they approach the digital environment. Meredith is continuing to make moves as it has acquired a new website.

Folio is reporting that Meredith now owns Mywedding.com. This is an added property in the wedding industry, and this acquisition comes shortly after Meredith acquired Martha Stewart Weddings.

As the article points out, “Weddings are big business in the U.S. In 2013, more than two million couples reportedly tied the knot, which equated to more than $53 billion in spending. That spells out a lot of opportunity for Meredith who is admittedly bullish on expansion.”

Taking both acquisition into consideration, Mywedding.com has a younger demographic as the primary target. Owning both properties spreads out Meredith’s ability to reach as large of a wedding-focused audience as possible.
