International Data Group (IDG) Founder and Chairman Patrick J. McGovern told a packed house at the FIPP Digital Magazine Media Conference that distribution is the key to online publishing success.

The mogul has print and online publishing operations in 85 countries and estimates that online revenue will pass print revenue in almost every one of them over the next five to 10 years. For U.S. flagship Computerworld, the print and online revenue are running neck-and-neck with online revenue growing 10 times faster.

All of IDG’s U.S. online properties have seen huge audience growth in 2007, prompting McGovern to close the print edition of Infoworld last year as the online edition continues to grow rapidly.
