We’ve certainly discussed the process of digital publishers using apps to share and sell magazine content. Of course, this isn’t the only way digital publishers can use apps to their benefit.

In a multiplatform digital strategy, some publishers are using apps as “books”. Although this process may become difficult to many publishers as Adobe recently announced that Single Edition will no longer be available in Creative Cloud come May.

However, in you’re a digital publisher with the ability to create apps, making a digital book in the form of an app may be an approach to consider.

Talking New Media is reporting on this. “The reason to create an app for a “book” is because the app format gives publishers and developers more freedom to do things just not possible in the standard eBook formats.”
