What are the hurdles to publishing on iPhone?

[question]

Let’s talk about iPhone as an e-reader… and the hurdles to publishing there vs other platforms.

[answer]

The biggest hurdle is the size of the screen. The second hurdle is how you’re publishing to the device. For instance, if you’re creating your own app, it requires a developer and approval from Apple. Right now, the iPhone is better suited as a “complimentary” device, one you can use in conjunction with your Kindle or your Nook, because they both have apps.

This is why they’re bringing out the Apple tablet though. Once there is a large full-color screen and a new periodical store, digital reading will hit new heights of popularity and acceptance.
