As the internet continues to grow, it’s embedding itself deeper into society each day. This has created an extreme amount of competition between websites dealing with similar topics. Great content will help websites stick out and be remembered, but there is more to the equation than just content.

A strong website needs to have a good balance between attractive visual components and a quick load time. If these requirements aren’t met, there’s a good chance users will not return to the website.

In our 25-page Website Homepage Ideas free report you will find information on the 14 guidelines for our website design best practices, which are found on the Mequoda Website Scorecard. Additionally, you will find tools for optimizing your website, tips for designing your homepage, insight from our Systems Director Nancy Horan and mistakes to avoid while designing your website homepage.

After reading this free report you will most likely start thinking more about the usability that the visitors to your homepage will experience, and not just the aesthetics behind your site.

The free report will speak of each best practice with more depth, as each shows the grading process behind the guidelines. This knowledge will allow you to take an objective look at your own website. If you are the designer behind your website homepage, take a step back from the process, put your ego aside, and take a close look at each of the best practices. The information on our Website Scorecard has been learned and used by many of our clients, and our insight is designed specifically to help you create a better experience for your visitors.

Are you currently optimizing the images that go on your website? If you aren’t the person who handles your graphics, do you know if they are optimizing images for the web? If you aren’t, or you’re staff members aren’t, you should begin to look into the process as soon as possible.

If you use programs like Photoshop or Fireworks, you can easily optimize your images within those programs. However, if you do not have that technology, there are free resources online. Optimizing images will take seconds off your website’s load time.

Are you burying your frequency, hiding your content or avoiding keyword phrases? If so, the design of your website is drastically lacking in strength. Find out why these processes are detrimental to the strength of your website and learn what can be done to solve these issues.

If you don’t share those above issues, then the information in Website Homepage Ideas is exactly what you need to be exposed to.

If your website is user-friendly, aesthetically pleasing, quick loading and full of great content, then you will be able to keep your visitors coming back again and again.

Wow. The blurb in the daily newsletter refers to considering web design for mobile computers such as iPads and phones. When one carefully parses the language I see there is no promise this white paper will address that. But talk about a bait and switch! You can do better by being more transparent about what the content actually is.

    Hi Ben,

Thanks for the comment and I’m sorry to hear you found the blurb to be misleading. As the blurb stated, the free report covers design elements and guidelines to follow while designing your homepage. These considerations are important to make, regardless of the device being used to view it, which is why I mentioned smartphones and tablets in the blurb.
