Why should it be my #1 priority to convert visitors into subscribers?

Why is it so important in your view to build a site that converts visitors into email subscribers? Shouldn’t a site also be sticky, etc. so that you can increase time spent on your site?

For most of the online publishers we’ve talked to, their website is perhaps 30, 40, or 50-percent of the total revenue they generate online, while email is actually triggering as much as 40, 50, 60-percent of the revenue. So at minimum, web and email are a 50/50 partnership in terms of revenue generation and often times email is the big dog. So making sure the website does a terrific job of attracting visitors and converting them to email subscribers is a core principle for Mequoda publishers.
