Ed Coburn to Lead Mequoda Advisory Board

It’s with great excitement that I announce that my friend and colleague, Ed Coburn, will be joining Mequoda Group as Executive Director of our reconstituted Mequoda Advisory Board. As many of you know, Ed is publishing director for Harvard Medical School, past president of the Specialized Information Publishers Association, and an active director of numerous nonprofit organizations. Ed is also a close personal friend and someone I’ve come to rely on for good management advice. For a number of years, we’ve attempted to create a member organization inside Mequoda Group that could provide guidance to our executive team and mutual support for each other. While I think we’ve met with some success, I think we can do much better.

23 member organizations

Historically, the senior executive from each of our 23 consulting clients has appointed one or more representatives from their organization to serve on our Advisory Board. Board members have largely worked directly with us to create training programs that are beneficial to their organization and our larger constituency of more than 57,000 subscribers, fans and followers around the world. Our current training programs include our Internet Marketing Intensives, Audience Development Summits, regular 90-minute webinars, free downloadable guides and tools, and our free daily newsletter and blog. Mequoda Advisory Board Members have also provided direct feedback that has led to the creation and evolution of our consulting, direct marketing, and website design services. Our current member organizations include:

  • Active Interest Media
  • American Quarter Horse Association
  • Biblical Archaeology Society
  • Business & Legal Resources
  • Capitol Information Group
  • Ceramic Publications Company
  • The Dark Intelligence Group Inc
  • DestinAsian Media Group
  • Farm Progress Companies
  • Golf Tailor, LLC
  • Haymarket Media Group
  • Harvard University
  • Hoffman Media
  • The Motley Fool
  • MPL Communications

  • Natural Health Advisory Institute
  • Prime Publishing

Together these organizations publish and market hundreds of websites, periodicals, books, events, and other information products.

Ed gets a free hand

In his new position, Ed will have both the resources and the bully pulpit to guide all of our current and future programs and services. He will be organizing both quantitative and qualitative research within our current member organizations and the publishing industry at large. He’ll be reaching out to industry associations like ABM, FIPP, MPA, OPA and SIPA to discover new ways we can collaborate and share information. He’ll be organizing regular briefings with our executive team to share his findings and make recommendations for maintaining and modifying our programs and services.

To keep you all in the loop on his thoughts and activities, Ed will begin blogging here later this month. I hope you’ll use his posts as an open opportunity to provide public feedback on all the above topics that will enhance our mission and community.

To say the least, I’m confident that Ed’s efforts will have a profound impact on us all.

Please join me in giving him your full support.
