New revenue streams abound! E-commerce is a direction that many digital publishers turn when they want to generate more revenue online.

EBONY and JET, brands from Johnson Publishing, have launched a digital e-commerce store with branded content. Folio reports on this story. “EbonyJetShop.com features streaming audio and video, downloadable music and videos and access to archived, proprietary content dating back to 1942. Additionally, visitors will be able to purchase branded Johnson Publishing products like t-shirts, mugs, fashion accessories and other content like cookbooks and e-books.”

A few months back, JET decided to ends its print run and focus more attention on its digital magazine. This action of launching an e-commerce store is another step towards a comprehensive digital strategy.
