The Atlantic Takes Digital Publishing to a Weekly Frequency

The Atlantic Weekly debuts on Friday and will feature content from the print magazine and website on a weekly basis. Individual weekly copies will go for $1.99 on Apple Newsstand and monthly subscriptions will run for $2.99, while yearly subscriptions will go for $19.99. New issues will be released every Friday.

Rather than create new content, they will pull the best articles from TheAtlantic.comTheAtlanticWire.com andTheAtlanticCities.com giving people a good look at the best content from the week.

The Atlantic was originally founded in 1857 in Boston, MA – back then known as The Atlantic Monthly. They currently have 400,000 subscribers and the print magazine is published ten times a year mainly focusing on politics, foreign affairs, economics, technology and arts.

Northstar Travel Media Goes B2C

Northstar Travel Media, the popular B2B travel and event management publisher, is making a move toward the consumer market after their recent aquisition of Your Travel Insider.  YTI was sought after due to the large subscriber database they had (over 1 million subscribers).

CEO Tom Kemp says the deal includes “performance based payouts” and some cash up front. The main reason for this move was to gain access to YTI’s database in order to make the shift to the consumer market that much easier.

Roy Weiss founded YTI in 2003 and will become the group publisher for Northstar Travel Media. This is the only acquisition the print and digital publishing group Northstar has made in almost a year.

Carloyn Kremins to Epicurious

Kremins makes the move to Epicurious, by Condé Nast Publications, to become senior vice president and general manager. She was most recently VP and publisher at Condé Nast Traveler. The online publishing firm has recipes from profesional chefs and home cooks from all over the world and is a great source for new ideas in the kitchen.

Also at Condé Nast, Beth-Ann Eason was named senior VP and general manager of ZipList, moving over from VP and general manager of Epicurious.

New National Digital Sales Director at MyRecipes.com

Matthew White has been promoted to national digital sales director at MyRecipes.com – a digital publishing site featuring recipes from a mulititude of magazines and cookbooks including names such as Cooking Light, Southern Living, Coastal Living and many more.

White comes over from People.com where he was a Digital Account Manager.

Sam Jacobs Joins Time.com

Jacobs comes over from Reuters, where he was a national political correspondent, to become a senior editor at Time.com. Time – originally founded in 1923 – has become one of the most iconic and recognizable print and digital pubishing magazines of our time.
