Jeanne Grecco has a BS in Sociology and Education and is half way toward her MBA in Business. She started at Gryphon as a salesperson and worked her way up to editor, but she is also a copy, content, website and marketing writer. Really, she’s been writing her whole life, since she was about 14 years old.

Before becoming GD’s editor, Jeanne owned and operated a mortgage company and acted as a broker and salesperson. She has done freelance writing on the side, wrote poetry and she’s even been a teacher. Jeanne has also done sales and writing for several companies including- Verizon, Roy Rodgers, The County Seat, My Gym and many other smaller lesser-known restaurants and companies.

Mequoda – How many blogs are you currently writing for?
JG – I not only write for my company, but I manage / edit a staff of 15 writers and edit for approximately 26 people all in which blog for our website.

Mequoda – Which CMS (ie: WordPress, Typo) are you using? What do you like about it?
JG – We have a custom-made CMS, we call it a ‘whizzywig’ and it functions as a word program with many similarities.

Mequoda – Are you blogging for your company as part of your job (ie: corporate) or is this a personal passion?
JG – We blog for our company because it is part of the Mequoda best practice that we chose to follow for marketing and SEO purposes.

Mequoda – Has your blog enhanced your professional reputation? How?
JG – I don’t believe so, however this process just came to light on Feb. 1, 2010, so we’ll see. I believe I have an impeccable professional reputation in the world of online financial investment newsletters. I read others’ blogs that mention me, and I am always blown away by the kind words that are written about me.

Mequoda – How often do you post a new blog? Are you the only one posting on your blog?
JG – Blogs are posted daily (5 days per week), at least 14 a day, and that number is beginning to rise to about 16-20 I would say, very quickly.

Mequoda – Who is your target audience?
JG – Our target audience is traders and investors who are middle aged to approximately 75 years old -mostly male with mid to upper educational levels. The highest percentage is in the United States and Canada but we do have a global presence that is growing everyday.

Mequoda – What are you doing to grow your audience and to create customer loyalty?
JG – My time is devoted to growing Gryphon Daily’s audience. It is never personal, it is always about Gryphon Daily and how I can significantly improve the quality, efficiency and satisfaction for our clients, while expanding our viewing audience to increase our overall exposure and sales growth.

Mequoda – How are you using social media sites (Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin) to promote your blog? Has that changed the way you blog?
JG – Not yet, but I am hoping it will. Yes, we are on Twitter, Linkedin and we are currently building our Facebook page, so we’ll see.

Mequoda – What is your main source of revenue: ads, sponsorships, products sales or donations?
JG – Our blog indirectly affects our overall sales without a doubt, and I believe it will influence it further as time goes by. We mainly blog about FREE special reports that are available on Gryphon Daily, therefore the blog directs the reader toward paid newsletter services. It’s all tied in.

Mequoda – Approximately what percentage of your overall revenue comes from product sales vs. advertising/sponsorships or other sources?
JG – My personal revenue is completely 100% based upon product sales. As a company, Gryphon Daily’s revenue is probably 90% product sales and 10% sponsor and advertising.

Mequoda – What is your main source of referrals (paid, organic, Google, Yahoo, partner site, etc)?
JG – Our main source for referrals presently is paid, but we also have several partner sites and we’re hoping that Google will become our main source inside the next 12-24 months.

Mequoda – What key metrics (visits, sales, links, etc) do you monitor to analyze the health of your business? From which sites (compete, Google, Yahoo)?
JG – Google is monitored on a daily basis, as are links, traffic, pages, keyword phrases, and overall sales.

Mequoda – How many sites have you linked to in the last 30 days?
JG – Wow- many, not sure I could give you a number on that. It is growing everyday and link building is one of our main goals.

Mequoda – What changes have you seen in your market since you began blogging?
JG – Like I said, none yet,  but we just started. I believe the height of social media has only just begun. Consumers are influenced by other consumers no doubt about it. It will be interesting to see how this changes conventional marketing practices  and increases revenue for us. Only time will tell.

Mequoda – What advice would you give a new blogger?
JG – Have your blog and know its place. It’s essential but it isn’t the key factor for a marketing and sales campaign. For me it’s all about investment newsletter sales, not our blog. Keep things in perspective as it’s crucial to have Google presence and referrals, as a necessary marketing tool, yet I think there is money to be made blogging. However, you need to find your niche first.

Mequoda – What ways are you planning to expand over the next year?
JG – The objective and the goal is to grow Gryphon Daily through the roof and in turn, offer our readers the best online investing and trading experience through the use of free content and paid newsletter services. Over the next year, I expect major Google presence, leading to Google becoming a major source of referrals. We are always in the process of increasing our internet presence and incorporating “blogging” will be part of this process.

Mequoda – Is there anything else you’d like to share?
JG – Gryphon Daily, along with myself, and my staff of writers, editors and researchers provide free, valuable content for traders and investors.
