How An Internet Marketing Services Agency Could Catapult Your Multiplatform Publishing Capacity

Whether you’re outsourcing your Internet marketing services or building an internal Internet marketing services department, these 11 content marketing job functions are key

I’ve been running marketing services departments and companies for the better part of 30 years. Mequoda Group is an independent co-operative Internet marketing services company that currently supports 20+ client organizations. The most common marketing system configuration we’re supporting is a daily portal or blog at the core with one or more subscription websites, and an online store that sells books and videos. Our organization doesn’t produce any of the original premium content, but we do produce a lot of the affinity content that is used for audience development including white papers, blog posts, and social media. We also produce and analyze the email newsletters, email promotions, and landing pages that are used to generate revenue.

Become an SEO Copywriting Master: Practice these Copywriting Exercises

Working with the fantastic Mary Van Doren, our lead copywriter, has turned me into a marketing words geek. I cheerfully admit it. Words that can sell products are constantly in the background of my brain … bubbling around, vying for my attention, waiting to be assigned to just the right product. If a friend convinces me to check out the latest blockbuster movie, I find myself taking mental notes on how she persuaded me. I always appreciate a good political bumper sticker, even when it’s not supporting my favorite candidate.

Nail SEO Copywriting and Prove Keywords Are Still Relevant

After the early years of SEO copywriting, every guru on the Internet suddenly decided that SEO copywriting no longer means including keywords in your copy because it’s not natural and Google only rewards natural copywriting.
Oops, I just made the mistake of writing a completely natural sentence with the keyword phrase SEO copywriting in it twice. Will I go to Google jail?

You tell me. By including a keyword phrase twice in one sentence, have I made that sentence unnatural? Of course not. And yet if I took the advice of some gurus out there, I’d rush back and change one of those phrases to search engine optimized copywriting or something even more awkward and unnatural.

Writing Breakthrough Sales Letters

In 90-minutes, learn online copywriting techniques that boosts open, clickthrough and conversion rates

SEO Campaigns Made Easy

Proven methods and a new idea for blockbuster SEO campaigns

A lot of people offer advice about the importance of SEO campaigns and SEO copywriting. And a lot of that advice tells you to start by developing a free report, then research your keywords and finally, write a landing page letter that’s been optimized for search engines using those keywords.

I’m not giving that advice.

Train Your Editors in SEO Copywriting

You have a keyword universe…now what?

Successful online businesses rely on talented copywriters who understand search engine optimization. In a time when job requirements are changing, especially in the publishing industry, SEO copywriting is a skill that many online business professionals are trying to learn.

The Difference Between An Email Copywriter and an SEO Copywriter

Copywriting was once a very coveted skill. Writers would hone their skills for years to develop the right mix of storytelling and emotion grabbing writing that sells a product.

However, after the Internet grew, developed, and became a medium for commerce, the need for copywriters grew. This brought a variety of other professionals to the craft – including online editors, content marketers, and audience development professionals.

12 Audience Development Tips

These audience development tips will help you attract, obtain and convert casual visitors to your website

There are plenty of ways of executing audience development efforts in the digital landscape. Today we are going to discuss a few of them.

For organic audience development we suggest utilizing search engine optimization, SEO copywriting and the distribution of SEO press releases. These audience development methods will help you target audience members through search engines by utilizing keywords relevant to their interests.

Five Tools for Creating Blockbuster SEO Posts

The Blockbuster SEO Post has become legendary in a short time because knowing how to create Blockbuster SEO Posts can lead to immediate traffic boosts. Sometimes this increase in traffic can account for thousands of new visitors each month.

If you are unfamiliar with the process of creating Blockbuster SEO Posts, take a look at this article written by Don Nicholas, which highlights five steps for writing and titling these articles.

Driving Conversions with Written Content

Have your words work for you, even when you’re not working

SEO is my favorite audience development strategy for two main reasons.

First, when you take the time to focus on your SEO strategy, and you pay close attention to the right keyword phrases, you are targeting the best possible audience members.

Audience Development Blogging: How Much is an Audience Development Blog Subscriber Worth?

For consumer marketers, there is perhaps no better audience development program than one anchored by a well-run audience development blog

I almost never meet a publisher who tells me their audience could not be larger. And for the most part, they are absolutely correct. Most niche media publishers never reach more than three to five percent of their target audience on a regular basis. And couple that with the fact that audience size is a direct driver of publishing revenue, you fuel the never-ending quest for audience development.

While many publishers are content to gain visibility by simply repurposing magazine, newsletter, and catalog content onto their websites, a growing number of savvy online publishers are taking the next step by adding an audience development blog designed to repurpose premium content in the form of tips, reviews, summaries, and other derivative formats.

Master the Art of Writing for an Audience

In only 12 lessons, you can grasp the process of writing for search engines.

By now, the question, “why should I write for search engines?” isn’t asked as much as it was a few years ago. Today, online editors are asking how they can learn the best tips for writing for search engines because they get how the Internet is used. They understand that websites like Google and Yahoo are used by hundreds of thousands of people each day; people who use search engines to answer their most pressing questions.

‘Miami’ Speakers Offer Innovative Ideas

Value of Marketing Conference Reflected in Speakers

1. On yesterday’s Twitter Chat, Mike May of Real Magnet addressed concerns on the subject he knows best: email marketing. “We should put as much energy into growing and tending our email program as we do utilizing it for our business needs,” he wrote. “If the ‘best’ day to email is Thursday, it’s likely the most cluttered. Try Sunday, see what happens… Best practices aim for the middle of the bell curve. Sometimes you want better than that. So innovate.” (Email Marketing, Thursday, Dec. 8, 9:25 a.m.)

The 3 New Online Copywriting Platforms & How They Differ

How online copywriting has progressed since its inception – with tweets!

Thirty years ago, copywriting used to be limited to direct mail and print ads. Ten years ago, we started to see an increased focus on online copywriting for websites, landing pages and even blogs. Now, there are several items on every online copywriter’s agenda worth refining. Tweets, Facebook posts and email subject lines are the digital equivalents of print media headlines.

The best snippets of “micro-copy” persuade the user to click, open and read the page or post that follows. Now when you’re copywriting a headline, it’s being repurposed for three different medium. Unfortunately, they have their own rules.

According to a new study from Pew Internet & American Life Project, search and email continue to be the most popular online activities with adults. Both search and email are used by 92% of adults online.

As a daily editor with evergreen topics, I simply can not write a post without targeting a keyword. Many of our most popular articles were published back in 2008, and all of them were optimized for search engines. There’s no way that we’d see even 2% of the traffic we are currently getting on those blogs if we’d named them something flashy, click-worthy and non-descriptive.

The Best SEO Copywriting Is Emotional Copywriting

Capture their heart and the sale will follow

Every so often, I receive a direct mail sales letter for some random product. Funny thing is, I find myself analyzing it and picking it apart. What did they do right? What did they do wrong? Would I buy this product?

Do you do that? I thought it was just me. My father has been in the advertising/marketing business for as long as I can remember. My first summer job was at his office processing direct mail cards and subscription renewals.

With rising postage fees and more companies going online, I receive fewer and fewer direct mail sales letters. I miss those stories they’d tell. You know how “this product changed my life…” stories that long sales letters were famous for.

The Landing Page Optimization Process

Discover your keyword universe and build landing pages around those niche keywords

The landing page optimization process we use has gotten us to page #1 with Google on multiple keywords. It is a process we teach all of our clients and Mequoda Summit attendees.

When creating a rapid conversion landing page, or any other landing page for that matter, we begin with research. Choosing relevant keywords for your landing pages will help you reach page one on Google. Where do you start?

Bringing back a few goodies to refresh your SEO Copywriting memories

At Mequoda Daily, we’re publishing up to four blogs every day and we know it’s not easy to keep up with everything that’s posted. That’s why for this post, I decided to put together a little recap of some of our most popular SEO Copywriting articles.

1. SEO Writing for Blogs and Online Articles

Use this list to optimize every new and old article or blog on your site in order to attract the most search engine traffic. In this article, we go over exactly how to SEO a single post on your blog, and the eight steps to do this successfully.

Google, Friend or Foe?

If you’re an online publisher, Google should be driving over 50% of your traffic

It’s a love hate relationship with Google. On one hand, you need Google to like your website to drive traffic. On the other hand, it seems no matter how hard you try your website is not moving to page one What’s an online publisher to do?

The number one challenge we see is impatience. Google, like any healthy relationship, takes time to develop and nurture.

The Mequoda Group has coached dozens of publishers using the Mequoda Method. It requires 12-18 months to get everything in place and to begin to see results. However, once established, even small tweaks can make an impact in a short period of time.
